How I overcame Stammering and fear of speaking in front of crowd
Something that I would never forget for life. Experiences whose learnings would stay with me for life
A stammering Kid
No kid wants to get bullied right?
At least you might not want it for yourself.
I was 10 years, the age when we just start getting some understanding of life. Being in the mid schooling.
If you think thoroughly we arent much mature when we were 10.
I was an introverted student. Always doing his own work and not interfering with anyone.
It was not like I didn’t want to.
But I had stammering and I wasn’t able to speak a line without a stammer.
Could you imagine how it had been?
All of my friends and their friends would make fun of me.
Both when I was there and even on my back.
Rising the phoenix in me
All until this was till grade 7-8. Then I realized one thing.
I could either worry about what people around me are thinking and be depressed about it.
Or I could try to turn to my strengths to cover up my weaknesses.
That’s what I decided to do.
Following by I did a everything to confront my weaknesses and smack them with my strengths
In class 7 - Got selected and stood State Rank 54 in Chess.
In class 8 - I got selected to play a State Level Badminton tournament.
In class 9 - Won district-level essay writing competition.
In class 10 - Got selected for Intra School Debate competition
I turned from a person build around his weakenss and insecurities to a person who had learnt to deal with it and even over come it.
All of these things gave me a reason to keep pushing towards my weakness and smack them with my strengths.
My Secret Sauce
The secret sauce of overcoming any fear
Till then with all of my confrontations and achievements that I had achieved, I understood one thing.
Either you can get scared and runoff from problems or you can face them and smack them.
I chose to do the latter.
I was tired of running and running from doing different things just because of my insecurities.
But thing time I chose to SMACK!
The way I decided to smack my weaknesses was very simple.
I decided to put myself in situations that exposed my weaknesses(stammering) to the fullest.
I started to tell myself that “If you don’t do this, then you would never come out of this fear“.
The fear of being my insecurities for life was something that was the biggest fear for me at that point in time.
I started understanding that the people laughing at you would one day come to you with respect when you make it Big.
I started to follow the following:
1️⃣ Feel the fear
2️⃣ Acknowledge it
3️⃣ Proceed
🔁 Repeat
It's common to have stage fear, or fear of speaking up, fear to ask questions...
When you constantly put yourself in such situations, it starts getting normal and you overcome fear
Just repeating this process would help you overcome fear by fear and become fearless 😅
This is what helped me and can help you as well.
Irrespective of what kind of fear you have. This is the framework that can help you get out of it.
It’s simple and worked for me, will surely work for you too.
The rising Sun
Everything ends well if you go all in.
With practice and putting myself in the situations that made me uncomfortable I was able to do much better and improved a lot.
Now when I am 21, a lot of folks turn to me to learn from me, ask me how to do things and now I am fighting the world to my fullest to do what I want to do with my life.
I know how it feels “Being struck at something due to fear of something”
But if you don’t do anything about it, it’s gonna stay the same.
Go ahead and smack your weaknesses with your strengths.
